Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is an unmarried thirty-year-old who lives in Chicago and works in her father's Greek restaurant. When she meets and falls for high school teacher Ian Miller (John Corbett), a quick makeover and some careful manoeuvring is all it takes for the pair to start dating. But Toula's parents, Gus and Maria, are shocked to discover that Ian isn't Greek and begin putting obstacles in the couple's path.
and keep in mind: most of our products you won’t be able to find anywhere else! Cheap Buy & Sell This is a funny movie, very cute. But I wouldn't recommend it for children. There are some cringe-worthy kissing scenes that will get the family all embarrassed. And there are some sexual innuendos. For example, the mom gave her daughter this wedding advice, "remember, Greek women are lambs in the kitchen but tigers in the bedroom". Definitely not what I want to see with my 12 year-old daughter! But for adults, I'd recommend this movie. It's good! It's all the insanity, mayhem, and craziness of wedding planning that a comedy could ask for. Plus, let's throw in the Greek culture to shake things up a bit. Well, things were certainly shaken up a lot and we appreciate that. Fotoula "Toula" Portokalos, played by Nia Vardalos, becomes the first in her Greek (very Greek) family intending to marry a non-Greek, specifically Ian Miller, played by John Corbett. Hijinks ensue as her family first does not approve of the relationship, particularly her father, and subsequently try everything in their power to make the wedding go off without a hitch, complete with inviting the entire Portokalos clan, including all 20+ first cousins and beyond, to meet their soon-to-be in-laws. By the way, is one of the cousins played by a guy from N*SYNC or the Backstreet Boys? I can't remember which group I'm thinking of. Anyway, Michael Constantine is easily my favorite in the movie, playing family patriarch Kostas "Gus" Portokalos, a man intent on continuing every Greek tradition until the end of time and curing every ailment with Windex. The family's neighbor, played by Jayne Eastwood, who is only seen "returning" the crazy Greek grandmother, is a close second...everyone should use that performance as an example on how to play the straight-man among the craziness and the hilarious. This is a great comedy about weddings and the insanity surrounding the preparations for these festive events that will appeal to just about any culture...I mean, what culture hasn't experienced this kind of craziness in one way or another? Enjoy.Such a great film, really stands up over time. This is a staple in our house along the likes of The Birdcage, Airplane, Caddyshack, Groundhog Day, Elf, Kingpin, and Something About Mary - movies you never get sick of watching again and again, laughing every time. Terrific script, great chemistry, funny, and lots of heart. A former patient of mine was a key cast member - confirmed what is apparent: Everyone had fun doing this movie.I absolutely loved this movie!!! I was a fan of the first movie and couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw the trailer for the sequel. I knew it would be cute, but honestly, I had my reservations about whether or not it could be truly interesting since the plot presented (in the trailers) wasn't too elaborate.Well let me tell you, it was perfect. Not many sequels incorporate the ENTIRE CAST! All your favorites were back and just as spirited as they were 14 years ago! The movie has heart that's for sure. It was not only funny, but realistic. When it comes down to it, every single one of us has a crazy family, no matter the size or culture. Family is so important, and when you have one that loves you, you've struck gold.If you loved the first one, you'll enjoy this one just as much!
So apparently watching this movie every few years on cable is no longer an option for my wife. She wanted to own this film. So she bought it. Price was right. I was surprised to find that very little had been edited out for television. I always assumed there was a much darker storyline going on than what was presented, but I was wrong. This is just a feel good movie assuming you don't have anything against Greek people or their culture. Also, I saw a commercial for the sequel to this film and it looked like everyone is still alive and kicking, so you know, bonus. We love this movie! I think a lot of people can relate to the 'ugly duckling ' story and it's fun and poignant watching Toula blossom. Family dynamics are the same across cultures and Greek or not many will relate to the personality types and interactive actions among the family members. Andrea Martin is fantastic! You'll never look at Bundt Cake the same way - or Windex. My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a great movie. It's full of action, hilarious, the storyline and family dynamics are unique but still relatable. The actors in the movie are all phenomenal. It's such a different movie but that is what makes it so great. If you are looking for a fun family movie, this is a good choice.Such a wonderful movie that perfectly showcases the power of self-confidence can have in the most humorous way. We are introduced to Toula, aGreek woman who grows up in an Orthodox Greek family. We see howe loving and caring they all are as a family unit, which includes the extended family. And we also experience her struggle to become the woman she wants to be in a world that has another opinion on what she should be.Such a lovely movie. Most of us can identify with how wonderful the family dynamics work in it. And that just adds to the humor I find as I watch it. Just love it. Cute Awesome Love Elephants shirt
